I having a problem with the knife tool when I try to use it to add new edge it automatically jump to or snap to other edges before you can get to you target edges. Example a cube i switch to vertex mode select the knife tool I will cut horizontal I will select the top edges then go to the bottom edges but it will snap to the side edges. what I do is to remedy this problem add vertex and switch edge mode the add edges select the top vertex then the bottom (even I select no snap it automatically snap)
Am I missing something or just don't know the procedure
Also how do create a loop cuts to the object.
Thanks for your time. |

No, it seems to have a problem... I will correct this asap.
To cut an object, there are many ways:
- go the the mesh toolbox, and use the plane cut tool. This will remove a part of the mesh and keep the other part.
- go to the face toolbox, select the faces you want to put appart (wire display mode allows to select faces on both side of the mesh), use the tools->detach command in the popup menu.
Hope this helps,

Sorry for the wrong term I used
I mean how to add loop edge because sometime you need to add edge around loop to an object because if you will do it manually is to time consuming
(the term loop cuts came from the software I used to)
Thanks for your time |

No problem. Edge loop if in the popup menu when the edge toolbox is opened.
By default, it is the 'L' (upper case) key. Edge ring is 'R' key.
It is aslo working with faces (two adjacent faces need to be selected) and vertices (two vertices linked by an edge need to be selected).

The edge loop is for selecting edges around an object and also the face and vertex , I mean adding edges around an object example the knife tool of Lightwave
3d you just slice the object in the front or whatever view you used the it will slice and create new edges around it like a square if you slice it horizontally it will create new edges and around it and also the add loop of TrueSpace workspace
side can create loops, heres the description of
"The Add Loop tool allows you to create a new edge-loop around the geometry. The illustration below illustrates a horizontal loop on a cylinder primitive. It is possible to create vertical edge-loops, where the geometry will permit."

Hello Darkscythe... Yes, I do imagine what you mean... There is still a need for some tool enhancements and add on's in A3D's modelling side but they are on the way... |

That is very simple:
go to the edge toolbox.
select an edge.
press the 'R' key to select an edge ring.
then activate the cut and join tool.

Pierre the thing you say cuts the selected ring's edges in half (or more) only... it does not connect them too... so that it may create an edge line between them... Unless I am ommitting something (something not so unusual for me, anyway )... |
