Face selection on duplicate mesh

I made a duplication of a cube i select 2 cubes with Mesh selection -> Ok
But if i want select 1 face on one cube and an other face to the other cube on the same selection . It doesn't work. Is it normal ?

yes, it is.
You can work on vertices, edges and faces of only one mesh at a time...
To do what you want, you just need to merge the 2 cubes before going to the face toolbox...
