How can I use the Flatten face Tool ?

I don't understand how it works.

select some faces (connected or not)
then open the flatten tool
there, you can drag the mouse horizontally to set how much flat the selected faces will be (0% is as when the tool was opened, 1% (it is an error, I will correct it) is faces are all planar and coplanar)
In the parameters, the user can select if the faces should be pushed on the common normal or one of the 3 axes.

that's it.
